About Us

Babette Kundrat, Founder
When I was in my early twenties – and still believed in my own immortality! – I imagined life as a series of travels. My dream was to stay in a country long enough to learn its language and culture. Once I felt at home, I would move on to another country and start all over again. With this in mind, I left Paris and my native Burgundy to settle in Greece, where I spent several years doing an assortment of things: I ran a restaurant, grew tomatoes, produced my own olive oil, fished, island-hopped and read Kazantzakis. When things became too familiar, I knew it was time for a new challenge and so I moved to the UK where I live and work as a French teacher.
I teach French to adults and really admire their dedication to learning the language. The initial inspiration for cosmofil has come from a desire to help my students practice their French during holidays in France. It is also deeply rooted in the magical time I spent in Greece. I wish to offer people an opportunity to enjoy the same kind of experience, even if only for a brief time.
