Collestefano

Description of accommodation and area: Collestefano is a family-run wine-producing property famous for its Verdicchio di Matelica, a white wine that can be found only in this area. The Marche is a region of unspoiled high hills with deep rural roots.

Their vineyards are organically cultivated.

The old stable has been renovated and divided into holiday apartments decorated according to the local style. Each apartment has a sitting/dining room, double bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. They offer privacy and comfort, surrounded by vineyards.

The Cosmofil experience: Fabio will be pleased to take you around his property and explain how his wine is produced. You will be able to understand the different stages involved in producing this internationally famous wine and of course there would be some degustation in the cellars!

The area is ideal for walking and cycling. The many medieval villages built on top of the hills are delightful and well worth visiting. If you fancy a dip in the sea, the Adriatic coast is only one hour away.

Language support: Silvia speaks some French and English and Fabio some German but they will be happy to converse with you in Italian.

The hosts: Fabio was born in the area of the Marche. He went to an agricultural school to learn about wine-making and travelled to Germany to do further training in the field of organic wine production. Back in Italy, he bought Collestefano and started working on his vineyards using organic methods. Needless to say, he is passionate about the Verdicchio and his wine is now sold in many countries.
